On-Camera Flash

Flash can really bring a photo to life and can help you out of a jam if you’re shooting an event which is dimly lit, or in times when you’re shooting towards the sun.

Off-Camera Flash

To really add some razzle dazzle to your wedding photos an off-camera flash can be combined with a range of light modifiers and can be positioned anywhere in a room.

Backdrops

Common questions about wedding photography

  • It really depends on your needs. Will the event be dimly lit? Will you need to shoot from a distance? Consider whether or not you need in-body image stabilisation, or the ability to quickly switch between photo and video modes.

  • Wedding photograhers tend to choose either a zoom lens for versatility, or a prime lens for working with low light or getting softened background effects. The answer really depends on your shooting environment and your aesthetic.

  • Wedding photographers mostly use on-camera flashes (known as speedlights or flash) because they're generally lightweight and customisable. When shooting events, you don't often get to choose where your subjects are placed and having a flash can really save the day in extreme situations.
